Ate here a couple weeks ago. I'm in my third trimester of my pregnancy and my mom and I went here after I had an ultrasound to catch up. First the all you can eat pancakes This is my number one craving and they were fluffy and perfect. We both enjoyed our meals except my mom and I don't like fried country potatos. Why can't they just be cooked in a pan? My mom got the avocado eggs Benedict or something like that. Holy yum Will be back. The service was great. Our waitress was attentive, sweet but not pushy.

Thank you yep! You led us here and oh did you make my kids super happy! The service was like really? Salt of the earth is what my old man would say. Just the way she explained the four syrups that they make in house, you can really tell they are proud of the food they put out! And it shows! These are some of the best pancakes and crepes we have ever had. We recommend the cinnamon roll french toast! Way good! Wish this place was in my town!
(5)Mike R.
Great place to stop for breakfast. Lots of types of pancakes, four flavors of house made syrup. Some of the best sausage and bacon I've had too!
(4)Rory T.
Fast, wonderful staff, and some of the best breakfast sit in I've had in all of Oregon. Definitely worth the visit if you're ever passing through The Dalles.

I wanted to take my little girl out for a special breakfast since she pulled out a tooth. Since we just moved to The Dalles, I wasn't sure where to go. We ended up at Momma Jane's pancake house. The place isn't very big, but it's was clean and had a very relaxed atmosphere. Very friendly wait staff. It's a place where the old locals go and talk S#*t..... Literately. As my daughter and I sat down, there was a group of old men in the corner talking about their farm and all the problems they were having. Some of the old men were just cussing up a storm, some laughing.....all just having a good time. Let me just say..... it was a very colorful time. Anyway... I ordered the vegetarian omelet with hash browns and sourdough toast. My daughter ordered some pancakes and strawberries with whip cream. Fast service. It only took about 5-10 minutes of waiting time for our food. Big sized portions, even for the kids. My daughter LOVED her pancakes with the whipped cream. My meal was pretty good too. The only complaint I had was the hash browns. They tasted a bit stale. I believe it was the oil they used to fry them in. Other wise.... everything else was good. I'd go back again to give it another try.

Decided to try this establishment for breakfast after reading a few reviews. I tried the chicken fried steak with eggs over easy and coffee. The service was excellent however the eggs came out medium. The chicken fried steak was nicely breaded and paired well with the hashbrowns. Coffee was an average diner blend and a little bitter. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Overall a decent little diner.

A very cute place. The food is good for a local diner but what is so great about the place is how clean it is and how the owner care about everything. Service is 5 star for me! Better to stop here than any other fast food that are in the area. My advice. Eat local and help local business
(4)Katy C.
Don't pass this place! Stop!! Exceptional service. Delicious coffee. Yummy crepes. Wide variety to please everyone. Sauces & syrups kick it up to the next level. Did I mention the fantastic service?!!!
(5)Savannah O.
Delicious breakfast! I had the blueberry pancakes with fresh blueberries inside AND blueberry compote. They were huge and I was so happy when they arrived to the table. My boyfriend got an omelette, he was more than satisfied. They also have little flavored creamers for the table which we loved. Also, homemade syrup on the table, try coconut it's the best.
(4)Alora M.
Yummy yummy yum...! Traveling through the area, and the Yelp reviews sounded good so we stopped in. The decor isn't much but the friendly waitress and the DELICIOUS food definitely make it THE go to place when you're in the area. Hubby had the cinnamon roll French toast (raisins or no raisins, your choice) which he topped with their homemade coconut syrup (which he almost drank straight out of the container he loved it so much.) I had the ham steak with eggs and opted for the squirrel pancakes which they'll allow you to do. The honey cream cheese topping was luscious, and I loved all the almonds. Of note, portions are generous. I asked for just one pancake as I had seen the fully loaded plates of food other patrons received and even then I could only eat half. Hubby only finished half of his order as well. Seriously, if you don't want to feel bad about starving children somewhere, ask for one pancake (which still falls over the sides of the standard dinner plate so you won't go hungry.) I cringed just a little inside seeing the untouched plates being cleared off the table. (and, I'm off my soap box.) I used the blackberry syrup, but they also had maple and homemade strawberry as well. We found out from the waitress that you can buy bottles of their homemade syrup. Unfortunately, we were on an extended road trip so we couldn't guarantee we'd be able to keep the syrup cold the whole time. If we're in the area again, going to definitely make this a destination stop...
(5)Virginia M.
The people at this place are so eager to serve. They are helpful about your order. The food is so good. The portions are good sized. You won't walk away hungry.

Great little breakfast place in The Dalles. I've been around for about 2.5 years and hadn't yet stopped in there and I'm glad I did. Great home-like atmosphere. Felt like I went to grandmas house for breakfast. Menu was very diverse and everything was very reasonably priced. Went with a classic bacon, eggs, and hash browns breakfast. It was excellent! Did NOT have to wait too long for service or food. All staff was very helpful and nice. Nothing but good things to say about this place. I will definitely be going back again!
(5)Rai R.
Checked Yelp as we were coming through town for a good breakfast place for the family on the last leg of a 3 week trip. This place did not disappoint! Great homey place, loved the touches of Faith throughout and the food was super! Great choices for kids, and serving sizes (and prices) were manageable for them. Excellent service, good coffee and the syrups were tasty too (left with a quart of the homemade coconut syrup). I had the Western Omelet, it was loaded with delicious bacon! Will stop in again when we are passing through.
(5)Tracey M.
After a week long camping trip we Yelped a breakfast spot in The Dalles. Up pops Momma Janes and what a find! Huge portions and super friendly waitstaff. The homemade cinnamon roll was outstanding. Definitely bookmarked this place!
(5)T C.
We love this place! We come here a lot. The waitstaff is always friendly regardless of how busy it is. The food comes out hot and in good time. It is regular diner food, but better than most and not greasy. The only thing I wish would change is their healthy options...maybe offer whole wheat options and some organic or other more trendy foods. Also, the coffee isn't great but that adds to the diner charm :)
(5)Mark M.
AMAZING. Absoultly great food, great service, wish i took my tab to pic the food it was better than it looked & it looked amazing. Best breakfest my wife and i have had locally. They were kinda busy (half full) wife had strawberry crapes? It looked good and i dont like strawberry. I had a frinch dip sandwitch. Frys weren't very crisp, but that is the only little thing. Staff was sooo friendly and checkin and refilling. We went there after going to shari's that was completly EMPTY got ignored 0ver 5 minutes to sit and get drinks. Waited ten minutes be4 we left to pancake house.
(5)James G.
Nice People, great food, huge portions! The hash with biscuits and gravy hits the spot!
(5)Laurie S.
Best breakfast place ever. Service exceeded expectations, bathrooms were immaculate, Veggie Eggs Benedict were delicious. Coconut syrup was very tasty. Large servings, great overall value.
(5)Jeremy M.
Great service! Average breakfast food.big portions. Brought my 2 yr old son. It was perfect.
(4)Michael W.
Wow was I happily surprised by this place! The portions were huge, and my girlfriend only got the half omlette for breakfast and it was still stuffed to the brim inside. I had the lemon pancakes and they were the two biggest cakes I have ever seen, I have no idea what kind of skillet they cooked them in. Delicious tangy flavor. Oh and make sure you hit up their homage coconut syrup, I've never had anything like it and now I'm hunting down a recipe of my own...
(5)Danielle F.
Meh... This place is clean and the service is friendly and fast. The food is not made from scratch. The pancakes are made from a mix. In addition, it is pricey for pre-made food. I wouldn't seek this place out. I'm frankly shocked by the rave reviews.
(2)Shanda P.
Best breakfast in town! Great atmosphere with fast paced friendly attitude. The staff is awesome.
(5)A D.
We usually split their French toast. Ask for their lemon butter on the side for this as it's awesome! This has been our family favorite for years.
(4)Makaiwi W.
Was not what we were expecting. the food was ok just lacked flavor. We were here on 1 January 2015 had the bellini, and the biscuits and gravy.
(2)Sally R.
We stopped by on our way to Salem. The service was fast, the staff was friendly and the proprietor stopped by to ask how our meal was. I had the potato bacon pancakes with applsauce and homemade coconut syrup. Delicious! A half order was plenty. Our coffee cups stayed full, so did our waters. They offered me an assortment of flavored creamers without my asking, I appreciate that. An all around great breakfast experience. We will make it a regular stop. This place is NOT convenient for RVs, but Safeway is only a block away, so we parked there and kicked the tow rig loose for a quick dash over. No problems. It gave us a chance to fuel up using my club card! Go ahead and stop next time your in town!
(5)Elton M.
Good food!got the French toast breakfast.the ham was good but a small portion, like 1/8th of a ham steak or 4 bites.tried to go somewhat healthy....I should've went with bacon!oh well.i'll definitely go back
(4)Koko C.
Great little place, we try and stop there every time we visit the Dalles! Wonderful food.
(5)Kari H.
Had breakfast/lunch here for the first time last week. Service was so friendly and incredibly attentive and quick. The blue plate special is a great deal and coconut syrup is a must-try on your pancake!
(5)Richard S.
Our family was looking for a lunch spot and found this excellent place! The menu had a bunch of options for us and our kids, and we all liked what we got. I had a scramble that was full of veggies and meat, my wife had a sandwich which she really liked and both of our kids meals were just what they wanted. Service was awesome, they went out of their way making sure everything was good and even brought out some coloring books for the kids once they were done coloring their placemats. I would highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast or lunch.
(5)Bobbie L.
Came in at 1:30, looks like they close at 2. Very friendly waitress, very clean place. Extensive menu. My mom and I had French toast. They had homemade syrup. Very good. Generous portion of bacon and sausage. You could tell it was quality. My husband had vegetable omelet, he said it was very good. Coffee could be better. All in all we will be back, Very nice people and service
(4)Natalie O.
Awesome food and service. Great vegetarian options. Several types of healthy pancakes. You get a choice of 4 syrups with your pancakes: Coconut (our favorite), Marionberry, strawberry, and maple. The waitress even gave us some syrup to take with us for our leftovers. Stopped in again and had the stuffed french toast with lemon syrup. Yumm!
(5)Crystal F.
My friends and I wanted a place to stop en route back home from a long festival weekend/camping trip w/o a camp stove. Yelp reviews pointed me here and we were all beyond satisfied upon leaving. The menu was filled with just about everything you could ask for from a diner. The portions were insane but it was exactly what we all needed after a weekend w/ very little food and a ton of dancing. I loved the option to downsize the scrambles to 2 eggs (which I did) and the plethora of side dishes that came w/ the dishes. I ordered a 2 egg veggie scramble and chose the side of biscuits and gravy to go w/. Everything was delicious. I tried a bunch of my friends dishes as well and would HIGHLY recommend the cinnamon french toast. YUM! The service was quick and very very friendly too! If I'm ever in the area again I'd definitely stop here again.
(5)James I.
Passing through and stopped for breakfast at a unique breakfast only venue. What a pleasant stop. Great breakfast and friendly service. I had the stuffed French toast (cream cheese filling, dipped in egg batter, grilled, topped with strawberry compote and whipped cream) what a culinary delight! Wife had cinnamon roll French toast with selection of homemade cocoanut, strawberry, Marion berry, or maple syrup. The bacon was thick and perfectly baked and the coffee was very good.
(5)Scott H.
Great customer service! Even though they didn't say they had gluten free, they had buckwheat pancakes. Homemade coconut & strawberry syrups along with Marion berry and maple. I had apple walnut buckwheat pancakes with egg and bacon, and all was extremely good. Nice people! I would go back many times.
(5)Alan M.
The biscuits were weird. Fluffy (and kind of spongy) but not flaky and they tasted like baking powder. Maybe stick to the pancakes? '
(3)Dustin B.
WHERE THE HECK can I pull over on I-84 and get a delicious breakfast under $12 with clean facilities and a kick-back-and-relax atmosphere? Take a detour to Momma Jane's - your standard breakfast fare at a place that kind of feels like home.
(4)K G.
Such a cute local diner. Feels like going to moms. Don't expect super sophisticated food but you will fill your bellies with a side of love.
(4)Alec W.
Lots of choices, good pricing, the only bad things are the odd parking, and the lack of seating do to the fact, that this is a breakfast hotspot. So if you were thinking, " where should I go for breakfast? Deny's or Sheri's?". Answer is, Mama Janes Pancake House!!
(4)Koni K.
This place was hoppin, its obviously a local fave place was full and people in and out the whole time we were there. The food was good, nothing spectacular but a nice little pitstop in the Dalles
(3)Kris A.
Enjoyed an excellent Chili and Cheese omelet. They have some interesting omelet combinations so if you enjoy trying something different, give this place a try.
(4)Leigh W.
We ate here twice during a recent visit to the area. I'm on a gluten-free diet so I can't comment on what looked like wonderful pancakes and cinnamon rolls but the eggs over easy (even though I asked for medium) were good with the patty sausage and hashbrowns. Boyfriend had omelettes both days, once with hash browns once with home fries and he preferred the hash browns (really, who wouldn't?). A bit overpriced for breakfast but we were in/out fairly quickly.

Breakfast Perfection Although it has changed ownership a couple of times, this place has been in operation since before I was born. I grew up eating here from time to time, and it was always wonderful. I've been in a few times since becoming an adult, and I have to say that the food is perfect. Fluffy scrambled eggs, fresh hot coffee that keeps coming, and delicious pancakes that make you want to eat more than you should. My only issue is that it is just too crowded inside the restaurant. Aside from having to wait in line outside sometimes to get a table, once you are in, everyone is elbow to elbow at their tables, crammed in like sardines. It doesn't help that I am fat and I have to use a cane or walker most of the time. I'm always afraid I'm going to hurt someone in such cramped quarters. I think the only way they can solve this problem is to expand to include more floors, or find a bigger spot.
(4)Theresa R.
Great service and delicious breakfast. Will definitely come back! The pancakes are huge- I ordered Senior plate with "small" pancakes that were typical size of most pancake houses. Teenage boy could not even finish the two large pancakes Good value for the money.
(5)Carla H.
If you are looking for home cooking and generous portions served with a smile this is your place. We were in town for a couple of days and this place had been recommended to us by the front desk staff at our hotel. The staff are genuinely friendly and the food is tasty and filling. The whole experience left me feeling like I had just eaten at my Grandmother's.
(4)Maryann S.
So glad I checked yelp for a breakfast restaurant!!! I missed the turn into Denny's ( only place I knew I could get breakfast @ 11:30 am) Down home family feel restaurant. Food was excellent too!! I had the buckwheat pancakes with bacon & poached eggs. Large servings ... Big enough to share!! Wait staff very friendly and fun to chat with even though they were busy!! Thanks for a great experience
(5)LR G.
We arrived at 1:30 for a late breakfast/lunch. Food was very good, those using breakfast syrup enjoyed the selection of homemade and traditional syrups. Their description of super salads were spot on--the salad was huge. I posted a photo and they have a wide variety of lunch items. However, what keeps this from a higher rated review was that at 1:55, closed signs went into the windows, (we knew they closed at 2:00, so we were not dawdling) and not long afterwards, the vacuuming began. I understand the staff was anxious to go home (we overheard a few comments about surviving another day) but I am certain there were other closing tasks that could be attended to without making your last couple of tables feel so unwelcome.
(3)Brianne W.
Good service. Great food. Bacon was amazingly delicious. Awesome selection of syrups- Marionberry was great and they have homemade coconut and strawberry syrups. Service was prompt. Definitely a great breakfast spot in The Dalles!
(5)Ryan M.
This is a great little local place with a total home-y and cozy feel. The waitress we had was very friendly and sweet, making sure we were enjoying our visit. The pancakes were fantastic, and the steak and eggs were cooked properly to request (med-rare, over easy). They have a great selection of artisan pancakes and several tasty syrups. Definitely worth a stop if you've stayed overnight in The Dalles or in a nearby campground and are looking for a way to kick off your morning.
(4)Liz C.
Delicious! Sue our waitress was friendly and the service was attentive. Veggie omelet is a must! Filled with fresh veggies and cooked perfectly, not dry and not oily. The biscuits and gravy was tasty but the gravy was lacking depth and a bit runny. Momma Janes is a great place to stop.
(5)Mark B.
Friendly staff, good food and just the right portion to carry you through the morning. Only drawback, the coffee is very weak. However, you can't beat this place for breakfast.
(4)Michele W.
This place is the best breakfast in The Dalles, heck it may be the best breakfast in The Gorge as far as I'm concerned. The staff is very friendly and the menu is flexible (a must in my mind to get the perfect omelet) I usually go for a bacon, spinach, peppers, and zucchini omelet with swiss and choose the pancakes. You have to go pancakes and try the coconut syrup. I crave that stuff, its phenomenal!! They have an option of making their omelets and scrambles with two eggs instead of three and discount the price, that option makes it the perfect amount of food with the price just right.
(5)Michele C.
Thanks to other 'Yelpers' my husband and I had a Sunday morning breakfast at Momma Jane's. Plenty of staff and the service was exceptional. I ordered a basic breakfast. I am picky about my eggs and ordered them scrambled well. They were cooked just right. The server made a point to check in with me to make sure they were done to my liking. I only wish we had come here for lunch the day before after having a not too great experience at Clock Tower Ales.
(5)April H.
Amazing food, gigantic portions, and super friendly staff! We live over 3hrs away which is a bummer but now have a new fave spot to eat when were near! Super honest staff, they told us what they loved the most and their least faves, which I always appreciate and I had so much food I have an entire meal in a to go box! Got the crepes Benedict which was amazing and so clever!!! Thank you, will be back!
(5)Brenda K.
Great service, everyone was cheery and welcoming. Glad I read reviews as portions were big, so we shared this vege omelette and half order of the buckwheat apple pancake, both so tasty and we were very satisfied. Check it out if your in the area!
(4)Jason W.
The best breakfast place in The Dalles! Two eggs, ham steak, and all you can eat pancakes...O ya. The omelets are a good go to. The staff is really friendly and attentive. You have to always ask for the flavored coffee creamer. I wish they would just bring it.
(5)Greg N.
Exactly what you expect and want when going to your small-town pancake shop. I grew up coming here when it was the Pancake House. If you sit at the first big table on the left, you may get joined by other people. I guess some people consider that their daily public table. We had two different guys sit down with us, which was kinda funny-- only because we were in The Dalles. It would've been weird in a bigger city.
(4)Ellen E.
Great breakfast options and friendly service. The homemade cinnamon rolls are delicious.
(5)Sally L.
Well priced, huge portions, super friendly staff. We had the veggie Benedict, buckwheat pancakes and cinnamon roll. Yum!
